Default Importing tables and their relationships

Hi,

Normally SQLEXCEL automatically imports the relationships between tables, but I have the feeling that this does not always work? Can you please mention how this works or how I need to setup this that it always works?

For example I have 2 databases both on localhost and I access them with the same ODBC connection.
When I use use the tables Customer and CustomerAdress from the database "AdventureWorksLT" the link is automatically imported.
However when I use the tables "FactInternetSales" and "DimCurrency" from the database "AdventureworkdsDW" the link is not imported.

In the SQL server "Database Diagram" the tables are linked together so I don't know what may causing this?

Greetings

Hi

Thanks for posting. That is weird.. Haven't see this prob before.

I can try to reproduce this - this weekend.. Sorry, cant look at it bfore then

It would be great if you could see if it makes any difference to delete and then re-create the relationship. Probably won't make any difference but would be good to test that to see if it is something weird on your machine..

Will be back over the weekend on this issue.

Thanks, Al

Yes this is really strange!

Last week I tested a lot of query tools, one of them was Active Query Builder(http://www.activequerybuilder.com/affiliate.html). After I installed it I used your tool and I noticed that there was a text "Active Query Builder" in the table area.
So somehow this installation had an impact on yours?! I don't know why. Anyway the only database that I've tested with active query builder was AdventureworksDW and I was a little bit disapointed that it could not import links so I removed it from my system. Afterwards I did a reinstall of your tool to make sure that it was fresh.

But it seems like the database "AdventureworksDW" I used before lost the abilty to import links.
I have a copy of this database called "AdventureworkDWx" and when I use this, it imports links correctly, so maybe there is some kind of caching somewhere? I don't understand this so hence the question , how can this be? :silly:

Thank you for your feedback

Hi

Hope all is good. Actually that it good news B) The addin uses active query builder as the query control. So this explains why thing would get messed up if you installed it.
Also, it seems to confirm a probem with that control as you had the same problem from 2 different installs !

I can run a check over the weekend to make sure i get the same behaviour.

Will be back to let you know how it goes on that.

Thanks vm for the feedback.
Al
