Default No toolbar in Excel 2007 Windows7

I downloaded and installed SQL Drill onto a Windows7 64 Bit machine running MS Excel 2007 (12.0.6514.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000) and cannot see the SQL Drill toolbar.

When I try to add the SQLDrill.dll via manage COM add-ins within Excel it does not add it nor provide any error message - all appears fine but it is not added to the COM add-ins list

Initially trying to register the file using regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\SQL Excel\SQLExcel.dll" fails to load with 0x800a046 error.

Using Dependency Walker on SQLExcel.dll gave me an error that MSVBVM60.dll and IESHIMS.dll are missing. I found the 2 files on my computer and copied into the SQL Excel directory to coexist with the SQLExcel.dll file

I then reattempted to register using the regsvr32 command and get a failed to load message, check dependencies etc. & specified module cannot be found

Running Dependency Walker again gives the following errors:-

Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in an implicitly dependent module.
Error: Modules with different CPU types were found.
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module.

Anyone out there managed to get SQL Drill working in a similar environment??

    Regards

    Tim

    Hi Tim

Hope all is fine. We did have this issue previously with Vista X64 OS.

It was resolved and as far as I remember the core issue was missing VB6 runtime files (you can get them here if they are not installed correctly VBRun60sp6.exe installs Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 run-time files)

Please take a look at the thread below (the latter part of the thread is the good part as the investigation took a while before we got it working..)
    Vista x64
In one part of the thread there is a list of steps that we followed to get the add-in working on a Windows Vista X64 machine that did not have VB runtime files installed in a normal way..

I hope that gets you going. Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks and have a nice day
    Al

Default Program DOES NOT WORK in Windows 7 Excel 2007

I have ALL the vb stuff installed. Install errors out when trying to add to excel 2007 with :

    NOT A VALID ADDIN.

Excel is looking for .xlam .xll but you have provided .dll file

    Hi
I believe the problem is due to the UAC behaviour of Windows that is in Vista and still in Windows 7. Unfortuntately, I don't have a copy of Windows 7 yet to try to reproduce this issue. I am trying to get one and will be back once I have figured out what is happening.

Excel 2007 does work with DLL Com Add-ins and as far as I know there are no issues with Windows 7 (I have had a confirm that it works fine from numerous SQL Drill Users).

Thanks and have a good day.
